LPI Summer Internship in Planetary Science 2027 (NASA / Houston, USA)

Applications are now invited for the 2027 Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) Summer Internship Program in Planetary Science!

The LPI Summer Intern Program offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to conduct hands-on cutting-edge research in Houston, Texas. Interns work one-on-one with leading scientists from the Lunar and Planetary Institute or the NASA Johnson Space Center (ARES division) on active space missions and planetary exploration projects.

Internship Compensation & Benefits:

• Generous Cash Stipend: $8,040 USD for the 10-week research internship duration.
• International Travel Grant: Up to $1,500 USD for foreign students to cover international flight expenses to Houston.
• Housing Subsidy: Additional financial supplement provided toward pre-arranged intern apartment rentals.
• Research Presentation: Opportunity to publish findings and present research at the prestigious Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (LPSC).

Eligibility Criteria:

• Undergraduate students currently enrolled in physical sciences, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or aerospace majors.
• Have completed at least 50 semester credit hours (2+ years of undergraduate studies) by the internship start date.
• Open to all nationalities worldwide (international students receive J-1 visa documentation).
